On February 12th, the Medef brought together European economic leaders to accelerate the development of the nuclear industry, a key lever for a decarbonized and sovereign Europe. Supported by GIFEN, this alliance aims to advocate for nuclear power within European institutions, in a context where nuclear energy is recognized as an essential driver of the energy transition alongside renewable energies. The alliance consists of 14 European business organizations with the goal of making Europe a decarbonized, competitive, and sovereign economic power.
A roadmap to strengthen and structure the European industry.
During this meeting, a joint declaration was signed by the employers' federations of 14 countries, establishing a roadmap to structure and strengthen the nuclear industry in Europe. The Medef, along with 13 other employers' federations, have come together to boost nuclear technologies and enhance European energy sovereignty. These include the federations from Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Denmark, Finland, Croatia, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
This initiative is part of a broader dynamic, supported by several European states that recognize the strategic role of nuclear power in the fight against climate change and the competitiveness of the European industry.
