Presentation

Since 1900, Forges d'Albert has been a key player in the forging and machining of parts for critical industrial sectors such as nuclear power, oil & gas, energy, armaments, chemicals/petrochemicals, transmission, valves and general mechanics.

Thanks to our technical expertise, our responsiveness and our acute sense of customer service, we can meet the most stringent requirements while maintaining a tradition of quality and precision.

FORGE

With over 120 years' experience, our expertise begins with the forge. This is a crucial stage where we hot-form steel, stainless steel, super alloys, aluminium and special alloys (Cupro alu, Cupro nickel, etc.). Thanks to our production facilities, we can guarantee precision and homogeneity of metallurgical structure to meet the requirements of the nuclear, petrochemical, industrial valve and armament sectors. Our know-how enables us to optimise each production run, from single parts to small and medium series.

HEAT TREATMENT

To guarantee the performance and durability of our forged parts, we carry out heat treatments such as hyperquenching, quenching, tempering and normalising, as well as specific treatments such as H111, H112, T4 and T6 for aluminium alloys.

These steps are designed to improve mechanical properties such as tensile strength and impact resistance, while complying with the most stringent standards. Our heat treatment facility is approved to meet the requirements of the RCCM and API6A in particular. It is rigorously controlled, guaranteeing full traceability of parameters.

MACHINING

Thanks to our recent fleet of machines (due for renewal in 2023), we have state-of-the-art equipment, enabling us to achieve greater efficiency in our machining operations. We produce blanks (peeled parts) that our customers then finish using their own expertise. We peel parts either at the request of the customer, who wants to receive ‘clean’ parts to place in their machining centres, or because of specifications to have a visual check and carry out the NDT required. We take care to adapt our machining to each grade and type of part.

MECHANICAL TESTING

In partnership with ISO/IEC 17025-certified laboratories, we carry out rigorous mechanical tests to guarantee the conformity of each part. These tests regularly include tensile and strength tests, chemical analysis, grain size analysis and corrosion tests to ensure that our products comply with the most stringent standards (NFEN, RCCM, ASTM, etc.) and requirements.

NON-DESTRUCTIVE TESTING (NDT)

Quality is our absolute priority, especially in sectors as sensitive as the nuclear industry. That's why we carry out non-destructive testing (NDT) to guarantee the absence of internal and surface defects. Our equipment includes ultrasonic, dye penetrant and magnetic particle testing, carried out by COFREND-certified personnel. Each inspection is exhaustively documented, ensuring transparency and conformity of the parts to our customers' specifications.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Customer service is paramount at Forges d'Albert. The key words are responsiveness, flexibility and honouring commitments. This starts with the request for quotation and continues throughout the order process.
For nuclear files, we send out PQR/FUDs within a maximum of 2 weeks.
We offer short delivery times and personalised follow-up for each order.
Our communication is continuous and transparent, and in the event of difficulties, we systematically propose solutions to minimise the impact on our customers.

CERTIFICATIONS

We are certified to meet the most stringent quality and safety requirements:

  • ISO 9001: Quality management system
  • ISO 19443: Specific requirements for nuclear supply chain organisations
  • PED (Pressure Equipment Directive): Compliance with safety requirements for pressure equipment
  • AD 2000 (ADW0): German standard for pressure equipment

STOCK

We have over 100 different grades of material in stock. Among the families of materials we have:

  • Low-carbon and structural steels: such as P245GH, P265GH, P280GH, P295GH, C35, C45, etc.
  • Low-temperature and high-yield steels: such as A350 LF2 and A694F60, F65, used for low-temperature applications
  • Alloy steels: including A350LF3, 16Mo3, 15CrMoV6, 2CrMo4, 34CrNiMo6, F5, F11, F12/ 13CrMo4-5, F22, 25CrMo4, etc.
  • Stainless steels (austenitic, martensitic): for example A182F304L, 304H, 310S, 316L, 316Ti, 347, 321, AISI 310, Z2CN18-12N2, F6NM, X6CrNiMo16-04/1.4418, 17-4PH/X5CrNiCuNb16-04 used for applications requiring high strengths
  • Duplex, super duplex: such as F51 (2205), F53 (2507) and F55/1.4501, highly prized in the oil and gas sector for their excellent resistance to corrosion and pressure
  • Nickel alloys: such as Alloy 20, Alloy 600, Inconel 625, Alloy 800, Alloy 825, Alloy C276/UNS10276, Hastelloy C22 and Monel 400, used in extreme environments.
  • Aluminium alloys: in particular alloys 2017, 2024, 5083, 5754, 6061, 6082, 7075 and 7175, used for their excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, suitable for various industrial applications.
  • Copper aluminium and nickel alloys: CuAl9Ni5Fe4, CuNi10Fe1Mn, CuNi30Mn1Fe. These alloys are particularly well suited to applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance and high thermal conductivity, such as components for heat exchangers, pumps and marine systems.
